How Does A Sleep Appliance Work?
An oral appliance fits over your teeth like an Invisalign tray while you sleep and supports your jaw in a forward position to keep your airway open. A custom-fit oral appliance can improve your sleep, restore your alertness, and revitalize your health.
If you and your doctor decide that oral appliance therapy is the best treatment option for you, your doctor will write a prescription and refer you to one of our doctors who can make a custom-fit oral appliance. We provide ongoing treatment to make sure your appliance remains comfortable and effective.

Dr. Joseph Smith, ARNP
Growing up in Kitsap County as the son of a Navy veteran, Dr. Smith developed a deep appreciation for his community’s beauty and camaraderie. He graduated from Bremerton High School and pursued his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Northwest University in Kirkland, WA and graduating in 2011. Driven by a passion for nursing, he initially served as an Oncology and Emergency Room Registered Nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Seattle, WA.
His thirst for knowledge led him to further his education, earning a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2018 from The George
Washington University in Washington, D.C. It was during this time that Dr. Smith transitioned from bedside nursing to establish his family practice in North Kitsap. In 2020, he completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from The George Washington University, focusing his research on enhancing the patient-provider relationship and developing tools to empower patients in managing their health.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Smith finds joy in his personal life. He cherishes his marriage to his wife, delights in the company of his cat, and finds fulfillment in volunteering at his church. An adventurer at heart, he explores the Olympic Mountains through mountaineering and backpacking, and also dedicates time to practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Central to Dr. Smith’s philosophy is the belief that every individual possesses inherent worth and deserves to be treated with dignity, empathy, and love. With this ethos at the core of his practice, he endeavors to make a positive impact on the lives of those he serves, one restful night at a time
